The mission of the Palliative Care National Centers (PCNC) is to ensure that all persons facing serious or advanced illness and their families receive high quality palliative care throughout the course of their illness. Comprised of the Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC) and the National Palliative Care Research Center (NPCRC), the goals of the PCNC are to ensure that:
Patients and families know to request palliative care
Medical professionals have the knowledge and skills to provide palliative care
Hospitals and other healthcare institutions are equipped to deliver and support palliative care services

The Center to Advance Palliative Care (CAPC) provides health care professionals with the tools, training and technical assistance necessary to start and sustain successful palliative care programs in hospitals and other health care settings. Located at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, CAPC is a national organization dedicated to increasing the availability of quality palliative care services for people facing serious, complex illness.
